Basics Junior Theatre School – Senior Company

Do you think you can capture the hearts of our audience with a dynamic musical theatre performance?

Most professional performers will tell you that their most valuable training came from early experiences. Our ex-members, which include West End performers, actors, singers and dancers, now working professionally have benefited from the training received at Basics.

Our Senior performers work on musical theatre material as they would in professional theatre; rehearsing to deliver shows that are truly breath-taking and every bit as good as you would expect to see on the West End. Basics’ Senior Company offers a truly unique and invaluable experience that pushes these young adult performers to deliver excellence.

We work towards producing and showcasing our professional, live productions which take place at the Pendle Hippodrome Theatre, Colne. Rehearsals do involve some Thursday evenings for principals and Sundays from September until show dates.

Professional Triple Threat Training

Auditions for places are only open to existing All Stars Students and take place in October as we announce the next show after which time students will receive coaching and help so that they may audition, if they so choose, for a principal role in the production. Every cast member will play an important role in the production however and many additional parts are allocated during rehearsal programmes.

Singing: Our Vocal Coach and Musical Director deliver learning techniques and coaching to extend repertoire for ensemble singing in a range of styles, whilst rehearsing for our annual professional show.

Rehearsal/Choreography: Our professional choreographer works with students in order to teach routines before polishing and perfecting the choreography in readiness for our annual performance. Choreography is sympathetic to the individual’s talents whilst pushing the boundaries in order to develop new skills and stage presence.

Acting: learning, polishing and perfecting the art of performing as part of an ensemble or as a leading actor. Our Director will guide students through the art of understanding stagecraft and how to create spontaneity and emotion, sharpening acting skills in readiness for our annual show.

Basics Junior Theatre School Auditions

Entry to Basics Senior Company is by audition only and is open only to existing Basics All Stars students. Auditions take place in October, so performers must have completed at least one full term within our All Stars (minimum from Easter term April – October) to hone their skills and demonstrate a level of commitment to their training.

Singing Dancing Acting

Our Musical Theatre Training Programme

Each year, our Senior Company show rehearsals vary depending on the musical rights we’ve secured, which means the style, choreography and rehearsal demands can change from one production to the next.

To ensure our students’ progress remains consistent, our in-depth Singing, Dancing & Acting training programme runs alongside rehearsals, providing a structured and progressive approach to all-round performance development.

This dedicated training ensures you’re always advancing your technique, strength and versatility  – continuously building the skills you need to thrive on stage, whatever the show.

Our Senior students participate in both term-time weekly rehearsals (for our annual production) and training classes in singing, dancing and acting.

The Senior Programme is £105 + VAT (£126) per month

Our two hour rehearsal schedule takes place every Wednesday evening and is delivered by professional individuals with many years’ experience in the industry and rehearsal time is divided between singing, dancing and acting so as to develop the three key aspects of the performing arts. This is known as the ‘triple threat’.
